What if… Day 7

Read Psalm 147

There is a clear command in this Psalm: Praise the Lord! There is a reason for all this praise: the Psalmist is overwhelmed by the provision and the generosity of God. The Psalm leads us into praise for God’s work in creation, and God’s mercy in the giving of the law, and God’s grace in calling the people of Israel as His own people.

How often do you stop to give thanks to God for His provision? How often do you pause, awe-struck, by the beauty and wonder of God’s creation, full of thanksgiving that these things are given for our enjoyment? Do you ever stop to consider that everything is a gift from God?

Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see the beauty of His world today. Take a minute to simply stop and wonder at the majesty of creation. Perhaps you will want to write down the ways that you have experienced God’s blessings today, or this week, or in the past year. I think you might be surprised at how long your list will be!

Prayer

Good and Gracious Lord, you are the giver of all good things, and too often I pass them by without a thought. Open my eyes, and help me to see your goodness, grace, and provision for me today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
