21 Day Stewardship Devotional Day 9
Read Proverbs 3:9-10
Perhaps prosperity is partially a matter of perspective. In these verses, the writer commands, “Honor the LORD with your substance and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.” If one gives the first fruits to the Lord, then one will invariably have less. Wouldn’t we have more if we held more back?
This is where perspective comes in. When you study generosity, you find that generous people have a different perspective on life and on possessions. Generosity helps you keep things in perspective. When you are generous, you begin to see how God provides. Generosity also helps one to see possessions in a different light. You begin to discover how your giving makes a difference in the lives of other people, and it motivates you to be even more generous. Giving of your first fruits can change your perspective. Take some time today to think about how your perspective could be changed by greater generosity.
Prayer
Perspective altering Lord, you call us to be generous people. Give me the vision to see how you provide all that I need, and to see your abundance. Amen.
