Recognizing Jesus
This is a reflection based off of Don Kazen’s sermon on Sunday, May 5, 2019. If you weren’t able to join us – I’d encourage you to watch it.
Where do you recognize the presence of Jesus? In worship on a Sunday morning (I hope so!) But many of us are only in worship once a week and Jesus promises that He is with us always… so where do you recognize the presence of Jesus?
It’s tough. Our lives are packed to the brim. Speaking for myself it can be hard for me to think about anything other than what I have going on and what I have to do.
Don preached a great message about the two men who were walking on the road to Emmaus and encountered Jesus (though they didn’t recognize him until Jesus broke bread around the table).
When we come together around the table we are guests of the Lord who has invited us to experience his presence and grace. From there, we as his disciples, are energized and empowered to go out and proclaim what we have experienced.
But we don’t have to wait until we celebrate communion to experience his presence. We can see glimpses of Jesus just about anywhere we look. We can experience his presence as we dive into the scriptures. We can experience and recognize Jesus as we go to small groups. It’s in those places where we can really be nourished by Jesus and his word.
Where do you recognize Jesus walking with you through your life?
