Celebration!
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice!”
This morning was a day of celebration and rejoicing! We welcomed Bill Kemp to preach in worship, baptized a teenager, received 10 confirmation students into membership, heard a new anthem written for our 125th anniversary with words by Marilyn Lobley and music by Michael Joy celebrated the Lord’s Supper together, and ate lunch together after worship. It was a full, and wonderful day. Thank you to the people who made this day a success, and thanks be to God for his faithfulness to this congregation for the past 125 years.
May we also hear God’s call, spoken to us through the voice of Rev. Kemp: May our work, our ministry, and our love for each other and our community keep us from being known as the church at the corner of Butler and Ridge. Let us be known as the church that opens its doors to our neighbors, feeds the hungry, clothes the naked, provides a home for the homeless, and bears succulent fruit for the Kingdom of God. When God does these things through us, then we have reason to celebrate. May the celebration continue!
