Who is Jesus? A Lenten Journey through John – Day 4
Read John 2:1-25
When you think of Jesus what image comes to your mind? The one who does miracles? The one who brings hope and happiness to those around him? Or the one who drives out money changers in the temple, whose “Zeal for the Lord’s house consumes him?” In this passage Jesus gets passionate, even violent.
When you come to worship on Sundays would you say your heart and mind are “zealous for the Lord?” What might our worship services look like if we were full of zeal? More importantly, what would your life look like?
When we come into the house of God, ask to be filled with zealous passion for the Lord. Jesus’ disciples are not complacent! (If you want further proof look at what was told to the church in Laodicea in Revelation 3). Pray for transformation. Pray that zeal for the house of the Lord might consume you so that lives might be changed in the name of Jesus.
Holy Lord, help us worship you without restraint. Open our hearts and minds to the movement of the Holy Spirit so that we are transformed by you. Consume us with zeal so you may be glorified in all we do. Amen.
