Who is Jesus? A Lenten Journey through John – Day 7

The Church Co   -

Read John 4:46 – 5:18
This passage represents a series of dichotomies in the context of miracles:

Healing rich and poor;
Interactions with believers and non-believers; and
Miracles performed long distance (not seen) and in person.

Read this scripture focused not on the sign (i.e., miracle), but on the signifier – the one to whom the sign points.
Many of us look for signs to help make important decisions in our lives: whether to take a job, to enter into a relationship, or to decide upon a particular college.
If the signs we are reading point us to: 1) God’s love; 2) people whom God loves; or 3) broken places in life that call out for love, we are heading in the right direction!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, sometimes we are slow to believe in your power, even when your miracles occur all around us each and every day. Open our eyes to see and our hearts to believe. Amen.
