Who is Jesus? A Lenten Journey through John – Day 12
Read John 7:32-52
Do we allow ourselves to see Jesus for who he really is? Jesus is at the Temple, attending the feast of the Tabernacle. Those present are familiar with his teachings and miracles but are divided over his identity.
While some accept Jesus as the Messiah, how do the Pharisees react? They fear that Jesus may undermine their authority, so they send guards to arrest him. When the guards fail, the Pharisees accuse them of being deceived and assert a pompous and self-righteous position, “Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”
Prayer: Lord, let us not be blinded but our own hypocrisies, conceit and pretentions but always able recognize you as our Savior, willing to receive your living waters. Amen.
