What if… Day 12

Read Matthew 6:25-30

Do not worry. Easy to say, hard to do. Worry is part of life. We worry when we are afraid. We worry when we face uncertainty. We worry when we can’t see the future clearly. There is a lot to worry about.

One of our biggest concerns is our future and our security. In the church, we often hear that we are to put our trust in the Lord, that God will take care of us. We know it’s true, but does God know all the challenges and troubles we face? And is it wrong to take care of ourselves and to seek security?

Maybe the right question is not “Do I trust the Lord?” and should be, “How can I take a step to trust the Lord more today?” One of the things that we can do is to step out in generosity. When we are generous, we find how God provides for us in unexpected ways. We discover the truth of what Jesus says, “And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?”

Prayer

Lord, I know that you are trustworthy, but I still struggle to trust you with everything. Help me to step out in faith and to trust in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
