Sure Jesus is Your Savior… BUT

This past weekend six men from the church went to Priority One’s Men’s Weekend at Lake Champion. It’s a weekend like no other. Where else would you ever see 400 men standing, praising, and pouring out their hearts to God? The speakers are always on point, but from the very first meeting you knew our speaker Vince D’Acchioli was something special.

He had a lot of nuggets for us to think about, pray about, and wrestle with. The one that stuck out to me, that cut me to the core… “It’s easy to believe Jesus is your Savior, but is he Lord? Is he your Lord?” What he was saying is that it’s easy for us to believe that Jesus is our Savior because he died for our sins, but to say he is Lord – that he is Priority #1 in all things – that’s a whole other ball game.

He’s not wrong, either. Jesus said something similar. Check out Matthew 7:21-23.

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.’”

It’s not enough to believe we’ve been saved and leave it at that. If we don’t place Jesus as priority #1 we cannot say that Jesus is Lord. When Jesus is Lord of your life everything is re-oriented around that. When Jesus is P#1 then our relationships will change, our outlook in life changes, everything changes.

So… is Jesus your Savior? Or is he your Lord?
